I am on the constant search for home remedies for skin, hair and eyes. What I learned is that enhanced beauty is as easy as enjoying a cuppa tea!
According to ehow.com, black tea contains tannin and caffeine which constricts blood vessels and encourages extra liquids to flush out of your skin. Additionally, chamomile has anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce puffy eyes.
Here’s how tea can help you look great:
Remove the tea sachets from the refrigerator when you have puffy eyes and/or dark circles. Squeeze them slightly to remove excess liquid. Place one cold tea bag over each closed eye. The chill from the tea sachets helps reduce puffiness. Leave the tea sachets on your eyes for 5 to 20 minutes. The longer you keep them on your eyes, the more effective they may be. (From e-how.com)
Hair rinses using tea is a great way to rid your hair of excess buildup and increase shine. Chamomile (for blondes) and peppermint tea (for all other hair colors) rinses helps to bring out highlights and works to condition scalp conditions such as dandruff.
Zap a blemish easily by placing a warm tea sachet on it for several minutes. Remove the bag, but don't rinse off the tea. This is best done at night in case of any temporary staining from black teas.
Boil 2 cups of water, add 4 herbal tea sachets, and steep for one hour. Refrigerate tea until cool. Soak a clean cloth or cotton ball with the cool tea and apply to affected area, holding it in place for 15 minutes. Do not rinse. Repeat up to four times a day. If you have a larger area to treat, steep 6 tea sachets in a tub of warm water. Soak in the tub for 10 to 15 minutes.
