We have a feeling you didn't know that this is National Volunteer Week, and we think we're just the tea company who needed to tell you!
Why? First, because we have a feeling that tea lovers are also great volunteers for causes and organizations they believe in. You're a generous bunch, we think.
Second, because we have several causes and organizations that we believe in, and therefore support several on a regular basis. One of these — WeCycle Aspen — is very local. WeCycle Aspen brought bike sharing to the Roaring Fork Valley, here where we live in Colorado. The bikes get put away in the winter, but next month the bikes will be back and we can't wait to grab one for a fun way to get across town!
We also support the National Outdoor Leadership School, or NOLS. Our owner and founder, Richard Rosenfeld, served as a NOLS instructor from 1997 to 2000, and we continue to support them by donating one percent of our annual sales of Alpine Berry to support a NOLS scholarship.
Finally, we regularly partner up with the Whole Planet Foundation, started by Whole Foods Market, which supports microloans to the working poor in developing countries, to give them a chance to lift themselves out of poverty. Since we source tea from enterprising, organic tea gardens all over the world, we've often seen the different supporting business in impoverished communities makes in people's lives.
Tells us what organizations you volunteer for by commenting here on this blog, or through Facebook or Twitter, and we'll randomly select someone to receive some free tea! Contest ends on Thursday, April 16, at 5 p.m. MST.
And read more about the organizations we support on our website, here. Cheers, everyone! Happy National Volunteer Week to you.
