One cuppa' at a time

What are you doing for Earth Day? That's tomorrow (Wednesday, April 22) and we've got some good news: If you don't plan on going outside and pick up trash, or crafting a vertical garden out of your collection of 2-liter soda bottles, or giving your local recycling guy a hug because you're pretty busy but you think you'll squeeze in a cup of tea or two, we're all over this one at Two Leaves and a Bud Tea Company. Our tea, as you may know, is quite earth friendly! And so is our packaging. A few points for you to savor with your next cuppa' tea:

  • Our priority is offering truly great tea, and also to get it from organic gardens whenever possible. So most of our teas are certified organic, which means they're from small, enterprising growers around the world, from organic chamomile fields in Egypt, to organic peppermint fields in eastern Washington, to organic tea gardens in Assam, India!
  • Our sachets are made from corn-based nylon, so there's no plastic involved, and they'll biodegrade in an industrial-grade composter. If you want to put our tea in your home composter, just tear open the sachet and dump your wet leaves in there, and throw out the sachet itself.
  • The clear sleeves that keep our sachets so fresh are made with a product called Revert(tm) that's better than plastic! Revert(tm) includes resin additives that help plastics oxo-biodegrade into CO2, H2O and and biomass. Depending on how you dispose of them, they'll break down in anywhere from a few months to a few years. (And if you have more questions, you can read more about our sachets and sleeves here.)
  • As for the box that your sachets came in, those are "paperboard" and will recycle just like your cereal boxes.

Cheers, fellow earthlings and tea lovers. Wishing you a happy Earth Day.
